2011 Camp Keowa Dangle

The pocket patch issued by Camp Keowa for the 2011 season was an oval dangle with their Thunderbird totem. Their is an FDL ghosted in the grass.

Camp Keowa had an undated patch as its 2010 Pocket Patch. I guess that the bat (?) and soccer ball could be a stylized “10″ which would make it dated. Does anyone know if that was the intent?

The design used is their Thunderbird totem pictured in front of a cloud with lightning bolt.

“759: Boy Scouts of Harlem” depicts the journey of boys in Harlem’s Scout Troop 759 from the city streets to the woods at Ten Mile River Scout Reservation’s Camp Keowa. Filmmakers Jake Boritt and Justin Szlasa realistically show the boys experience at summer camp, the quintessential American rite of passage, through recognizable experiences: fear and ultimate conquering of swimming in the lake, adolescent voice breaking and young crushes on the Russian girls working in the dining hall, late night talks with their troopmates and leaders, and ultimately, going home. The humor and relationships of the boys make the film come to life.

There is also a new patch for Camp Keowa in 2008. The Keowa Thunderbird is the centerpiece of this patch.

Ten Mile River 80th Anniversary – Camp Keowa

As part of its 80th Anniversary celebration, TMR has issued two sets of 7 CSP’s.

The first version is numbered, the second set is un-numbered. The numbered CSP’s share the same design as the un-numbered, but have a number ghosted in the design. To the best of my knowledge, no “sets” of the same numbers were sold.

Each design features a theme or program element specific to that camp with the Indian Cliffs “chief” as part of the design.

The Keowa CSP, has the Chief watching a water skier on Crystal Lake.

Camp Keowa 2007 Polar Bear Swimmer – KEO2007X2

Another new addition for Camp Keowa in 2007 is a patch issued for their Polar Bear Swimmers. This is to my knowledge, the first Polar Bear Swim patch for Camp Keowa, at least in the modern era. Camp Ranachqua has had a number of Polar BEar patches over the years, but not Camp Keowa.

The patch is approximately 30mm tall and 100mm long. It has a Blue cut edge border, a white background, black Polar Bear Swimmer, multicolored Keowa and a blue FDL.

Camp Keowa 2007 – KEO2007X1

2007 is the 80th Anniversary of Ten Mile River Scout Camps and Camp Keowa celebrates that with its 2007 camp patch.

The 2007 patch has a Blue border and a multicolored background with yellow Experience Camp Keowa, 2007 Ten Mile River 80th Annivesary.

The patch is neither embroidered nor silkscreened, but is what is referred to as a Printed Patch which uses a process of dye sublimation.
