Camp Wauwepex 1953 Cut Edge Patch

According to Bill Cotter’s Wauwepex History:

Camp Wauwepex opened in 1921 in Miller Place, then moved to the present location the next year. It has faithfully served campers from Nassau County ever since. As might be expected of a camp that old, it is steeped in Scouting tradition and history.

Wauwepex served the Scouts of than Nassau County Council and still serves the Scouts of theodore Roosevelt council under the name Schiff Scout Reservation.

Boy Scout camp building destroyed by fire

I cross posted this on my NYOATrader blog too.

On the afternoon of November 1, a fire broke out at Theodore Roosevelt Council’s Camp Wauwepex in Riverhead, New York.

The recreation hall at Camp Wauwepex in Wading River burned to the ground this afternoon.

The 5,000-square-foot wood frame building was fully engulfed in flames when Wading River firefighters arrived at the scene at about 4:30 p.m., Wading River Fire Chief Eric Cohen said. The fire department had numerous reports of heavy smoke in the area, which led firefighters to the conflagration at the Schiff Scout Reservation, off Wading River Manor Road.

1973 Sherwood Forest Outpost Jacket Patch

In 1973, Ten Mile River issued several jacket patches for the various outposts available for day or overnight trips throughout the reservation. One of those outposts was devoted to archery and was called Sherwood Forest.

TMR Scout Museum 2006 undated Pocket Patch

In 2006, the TMR Scout Museum issued a new pocket patch with a different design. Rather than the Museum Logo or the Indian Cliffs design, this photorealistic patch pictures the Museum in the Headquarters Area.

In 2005, the Ten Mile River Scout Museum issued its only (to date) Jacket Patch. The Indian Cliffs design, was the same as the Historian Patch for that year.

1981 Ten Mile River Backpatch

Douglas Chin sends along a scan of the 1981 Indian Cliffs backpatch.

I see a Blue IC 1978 TMR Square Back Patch on the TMR Memorabalia website. This patch is not dated. I have a 1981 patch of the same design but only with the year 1981. I am sending you a picture of it in case you wish to put it on the TMR website.

While it is om the TMR Museum site as from 1978, I suspect it is from 1979 or 1980 (where there was no jacket patch) or 1982 where there are no known generic TMR issues.

In 1978, there were 4 different round jacket patches with an orange background so it is unlikely to be from that year.

Can anyone confirm when it is from?

I have the 1981 version in my collection; but I’m missing the undated version. This was during the time I was up in Syracuse. Anyone have one for trade or sale?
