{"id":847,"date":"2012-10-30T10:41:29","date_gmt":"2012-10-30T15:41:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tenmilerivertrader.com\/blog\/?p=847"},"modified":"2014-09-04T13:42:15","modified_gmt":"2014-09-04T18:42:15","slug":"hurrican-sandy-the-aftermath","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tenmilerivertrader.com\/blog\/2012\/10\/30\/hurrican-sandy-the-aftermath\/","title":{"rendered":"Hurricane Sandy &#8211; the aftermath"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>All is well with me and mine here in Brooklyn, but all is not well in NYC and NYS.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.co.sullivan.ny.us\/CountyNews\/tabid\/2206\/ArticleId\/373\/FromTabId\/36\/Default.aspx\">IMPACTS OF HURRICANE SANDY<\/a><br \/>\nTuesday, October 30, 2012<br \/>\n(Emergency Operations Center, Bethel New York &#8211; 7:30 AM) \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Sullivan County Manager David Fanslau issued the following statement:  \u00e2\u20ac\u0153The National Weather Service has canceled the High Wind Warning, and has issued a Wind Advisory that is in effect until 5:00 PM this afternoon for Sullivan County. A Flood Watch continues to be in effect through Tuesday evening.  However, there have been no reports of flooding as yet in Sullivan County.<\/p>\n<p>Sullivan County travel restrictions that were issued at 9:00 PM Monday night remain in place. There are numerous roads that are blocked with fallen trees and wires, and public works crews will be addressing road closures throughout the day.  In many cases, public work crews will need to work jointly with utilities crews to ensure power is off to wires down with trees.<\/p>\n<p>About 30,000 locations throughout Sullivan County remain without power. Prolonged power outages will last several days.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of the winds from Hurricane Sandy there are nearly 40 roads closed.  Specific roads that are impassable &#8211; partial list: CR 11, 21, 33, 75, 153, 95, &#038; 173. There are 30 roads that are limited but trees down. State Route 17B is closed from CR 183 to CR 55 in White Lake.  Route 42N is closed from Forestburgh to the Orange County Line.  Route 97 is closed in the Town of Tusten.  Route 209 is closed from Route 209 to the Orange County line.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>CR 183 is around Mongaup Valley on 17B.<\/p>\n<p>For power outages, check the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nyseg.com\/Outages\/outageinformation.html\">NYSEG site<\/a>.
