While not a camp in the traditional sense, over the years, TMR has had a number of outposts. One of these, The Village at T.M.R. was established in 1997 at the site of Camp Lakeside on Crystal Lake. Over the years it has offered a variety of programs designed for first-year campers, including scout skills, a fishing station and a barnyard/petting zoo. They have also issued a patch for 2007.
It is a cut edged tee pee shaped patch with a yellow 2007 and red The Village at Lakeside and pictures the Tower of Friendship and a boy fishing.

Another new addition for Camp Keowa in 2007 is a patch issued for their Polar Bear Swimmers. This is to my knowledge, the first Polar Bear Swim patch for Camp Keowa, at least in the modern era. Camp Ranachqua has had a number of Polar BEar patches over the years, but not Camp Keowa.
The patch is approximately 30mm tall and 100mm long. It has a Blue cut edge border, a white background, black Polar Bear Swimmer, multicolored Keowa and a blue FDL.

2007 is the 80th Anniversary of Ten Mile River Scout Camps and Camp Keowa celebrates that with its 2007 camp patch.
The 2007 patch has a Blue border and a multicolored background with yellow Experience Camp Keowa, 2007 Ten Mile River 80th Annivesary.
The patch is neither embroidered nor silkscreened, but is what is referred to as a Printed Patch which uses a process of dye sublimation.

Updated for issue number
Camp Aquehonga has a new patch for the 2007 camp season. It basically rectangular in shape, with a red cute edge, gray background and dark gray/outlined black Camp Aquehonga, 2007, Going above and Beyond. GNYC, TMR and a FDL is ghosted in the gary background.

During the 80th Anniversary celebration, the TMR museum a number of Scouting items were donated to the museum. After the great response I had last night I thought I would try another.
I am trying to find more information on the item pictured below. As you can see, it is a small round approximately 52mm in diameter and reads Scouter Basic Training.

Does anyone know when it was issued, by whom, and an approximate value?

Due to changes in the Scouting Program and perhaps the times, attendance at Ten Mile River Scout Camps was falling in the 1970’s. Where just a short time before there were 11 operating camps, by the mid 1970’s only a handful were open; Aquehonga, Keowa, Kernochan, Kunatah and Ranachqua. Other local councils were selling or closing their camps in order to balance their budgets. Circa 1976, while Greater New York Councils no longer found it feasible to operate Camp Hayden (the last year as a GNYC Camp was 1974) worked out an agreement with Rockland County Council to lease the camp from Greater New York for use as a summer camp. This lasted until the mid-1980’s.
Camp Ranachqua was closed after the 1977 summer camp season and in 1979 an agreement was worked out with Hudson Delaware Council to lease this property to use as both their summer camp and for short term camping year-round.
A different subset of collecting TMR, would be to collect the leased camps. While not issued by GNYC, they are TMR memorabilia.
Pictured below is what I believe to be the first patch issued for Camp Hayden in 1976 by Rockland County Council.

I will be posting other Camp Hayden issues in the upcoming weeks. Any help in confirming (or dating) the undated ones would be appreciated.

As some of you know, I am a Trustee of the Ten Mile River Scout Museum and have been asked to identify several patches.
During the 80th Anniversary celebration, the TMR museum a number of Scouting items were donated to the museum. I am trying to find more information on the three items pictured below. (Click on the thumbnail to see a larger image.)

1. Full Square First Class Badge Yellow Border, yellow eagle, Dark Blue First Class Emblem, Squat crown. It is sewn to an armband with elastic to hold it in place. Perhaps a homemade armband for a position outside the unit level or to be transfered from one uniform to the next.
2. Square First Class Badge, Fine Yellow wreath, Silver Border, Gold Eagle, Dark Blue First Class Emblem, Squat crown. I believe this is some sort of Commissioner Patch.
3. Round (or cut to round) First Class Badge, Fine Yellow wreath, Silver Border, Silver Eagle, Dark Blue First Class Emblem, Squat crown. I believe this is also some sort of Commissioner Patch.
Any help in identifying, dating and valuing these items would be appreciated.

Next weekend, July 14 and 15, 2007, will be the celebration of the 80th Anniversary of Ten Mile River Scout Camps.
Scouts and Scouters from across the nation will gather at Ten Mile River Scout Camps on July 14th & 15th to celebrate 80 years of Scouts camping at the largest and most famous council camp in the United States. Over this time, more than one million Scouts have passed through the gates of the various camps at TMR. Here, in our Scouting wonderland, they have experienced unparalleled adventure while learning new skills and building friendships that last a lifetime.

The GNYC Website has more information, you can download a form or register online

As part of the 80th Anniversary Celebration, a series of CSP’s have been issued. The 3 CSP’s were issued to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of TMR, the 75th Anniversary of the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC) and the 10th Anniversary of the Ten Mile River Scout Museum.
From Wikipedia:
The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) was a work relief program for young men from unemployed families established on March 19, 1933 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in his first hundred days. It was part of the New Deal designed to combat the poverty and unemployment of the Great Depression in the United States. The CCC became one of the most popular New Deal programs among the general public and operated in every state and several territories. The young men went to camps of about 200 men each for six month “periods” where they were paid to do outdoor construction work. The Indian Division was a major relief agency for Indian reservations.
The CCC were instrumental in providing much of the early construction of the Ten Mile Scout Camps. The CCC camp was located near what today is the Headquarters Area.

Information on ordering the CSP set, can be found here.

In a previous posting on the history of the TMR Scout, I wrote that most of the two color patches had a horizontal separation between the color arcs. Larry Strauss provides an image of the Red/Orange Twill Cloth Patch with a vertical separation. Does anyone else have other varieties?
