Undated Stratton Mountain Scout Reservation

by @ Saturday, November 26th, 2011. Filed under pre-1960 NYS Camps

Stratton Mountain Scout Reservation was from Fort Orange Council which merged in 1963 to become Fort Orange-Uncle Sam Council. The Camp book shows Stratton Mountain as existing from circa 1952 until 1971. Can anyone date the years of use for this cut edge patch? [phpbay]Stratton Mountain Scout, 10[/phpbay]

Filed under Ten Mile River pre-1965

I’d previously written about a 1956 TMR Headquarters Staff Patch. These issues have been seen with dates from at least the mid-1950′s to the mid 1960′s. This particular patch was listed in the 1st Edition of A Guide to Memorabilia of the Ten Mile River Scout Camps as belonging to Headquarters Staff. The information on […]

During this era, Woodworth Lake Scout Reservation was part of Sir William Johnson Council. The patch pictured below, had rockers for each year a Scout attended Camp. Several rockers could be fit in the notch at the bottom of the patch. I’ve seen rockers from the 1956-1958 time frame. Can anyone confirm the years of […]

Camp Hayden Polar Bear Update

A couple of years ago, I posted an image of a Polar Bear Patch from Camp Hayden. It was in pretty rough shape, but I can now share a mint example. Rockland County Council worked out an agreement to operate Camp Hayden (the last year as a GNYC Camp was 1974) and leased the camp […]

Camp Spaulding cut edge

by @ Friday, November 11th, 2011. Filed under pre-1960 NYS Camps

Camp Spaulding was part of Susquehango Council and existed from the mid-1920’s until the 1950’s, so I think this one while undated, qualifies as a pre-1960 NYS Camp Patch. [phpbay]Camp Spaulding, 10[/phpbay]

Camp Rotary Uncle Sam Council

by @ Tuesday, November 8th, 2011. Filed under pre-1960 NYS Camps

There were at least two Camp Rotary’s in NYS.  One in Cayuga County Council and the other in Uncle Sam Council (now part of Twin Rivers Council). The patch below is from Uncle Sam Council which existed from 1947-1963 when it became part of Fort Orange-Uncle Sam Council. Can anyone confirm when this patch was […]

Boy Scout camp building destroyed by fire I cross posted this on my NYOATrader blog too. On the afternoon of November 1, a fire broke out at Theodore Roosevelt Council’s Camp Wauwepex in Riverhead, New York. The recreation hall at Camp Wauwepex in Wading River burned to the ground this afternoon. The 5,000-square-foot wood frame […]
