Camp Ranachqua eBay Auctions?

by @ 9:24 pm. Filed under Camp Ranachqua

There are two auctions currently running on eBay which describe patches as likely or possibly coming from Camp Ranachqua.

You can visit the Ten Mile River Scout Museum website to see dozens of issues from Camp Ranachqua. Some of the felts date back to the 1920’s at Kanohwahkee Scout Camps and later at Ten Mile River.

Note the stylized “R” common to these designs.

Below are images of annual awards earned at Camp Ranachqua.

While I cannot categorically confirm that the issues in the eBay auctions are not from Camp Ranachqua; I do not believe they are Ranachqua issues.

TMR 80th Anniversary CSP - Family Camp FC2007X1

by @ 7:05 pm. Filed under Family Camp, TMR - Individual Camps

As part of its 80th Anniversary celebration, TMR has issued two sets of 7 CSP’s.

The first version is numbered, the second set is un-numbered. The numbered CSP’s share the same design as the un-numbered, but have a number ghosted in the design. To the best of my knowledge, no “sets” of the same numbers were sold.

Each design features a theme or program element specific to that camp with the Indian Cliffs “chief” as part of the design.

The third in the series is from Family Camp.

Family Camp was originally for Scoutmasters family from back in the day when most people only had 2 weeks vacation. Many Scoutmasters used their entire vacation to bring boys to camp. Their wives and other children stayed in Family Camp.

This CSP pictures the Stumpp Cabin and the chief with his wife and child. The Stumpp Cabin is named for William Stumpp an early director of Camp Ranachqua and Chief of Ranachqua Lodge.

The numbered version is the FC2007X1 and the un-numbered is the FC2007X2

Whatsit? Camp Ouananack

by @ 11:04 pm. Filed under Whatsit?

Question Mark?Bruce Shelley sends along an image from Camp Ouananack. He is looking for more information, can anyone help him out? The camp name is unfamiliar to me.

I am trying to attach an image of badge from Camp Ouananack, which is obviously BSA. I bought it last year on ebay from a guy in New Jersey. It came on a shirt with a Woodridge tan & red community strip but no state strip. I searched the name Ouananack on the Internet but got no hits. I searched Woodridge in a gazetteer of the US and located two towns by that name, one in the suburbs of Chicago and one in southeast NY state. My best guess at this point is that it is a NY camp from the late 1930’s or 1940’s. I have sent an image to Bob Sherman and he may put it in one of his articles.

The Village at Lakeside - 2007 - VIL2007X1

by @ 7:20 pm. Filed under TMR - Individual Camps, The Village

While not a camp in the traditional sense, over the years, TMR has had a number of outposts.  One of these, The Village at T.M.R. was established in 1997 at the site of Camp Lakeside on Crystal Lake.  Over the years it has  offered a variety of programs designed for first-year campers, including scout skills, a fishing station and a barnyard/petting zoo.  They have also issued a patch for 2007.

It is a cut edged tee pee shaped patch with a yellow 2007 and red The Village at Lakeside and pictures the Tower of Friendship and a boy fishing.

Camp Keowa 2007 Polar Bear Swimmer - KEO2007X2

by @ 7:14 pm. Filed under Camp Keowa, TMR - Individual Camps

Another new addition for Camp Keowa in 2007 is a patch issued for their Polar Bear Swimmers.  This is to my knowledge, the first Polar Bear Swim patch for Camp Keowa, at least in the modern era.  Camp Ranachqua has had a number of Polar BEar patches over the years, but not Camp Keowa.

The patch is approximately 30mm tall and 100mm long.  It has a Blue cut edge border, a white background, black Polar Bear Swimmer, multicolored Keowa and a blue FDL.

by @ 7:13 pm. Filed under Camp Keowa, TMR - Individual Camps

2007 is the 80th Anniversary of Ten Mile River Scout Camps and Camp Keowa celebrates that with its 2007 camp patch.

The 2007 patch has a Blue border and a multicolored background with yellow Experience Camp Keowa, 2007 Ten Mile River 80th Annivesary.

The patch is neither embroidered nor silkscreened, but is what is referred to as a Printed Patch which uses a process of dye sublimation.

Another Whatsit?

by @ 8:49 pm. Filed under Uncategorized

Question Mark?During the 80th Anniversary celebration, the TMR museum a number of Scouting items were donated to the museum. After the great response I had last night I thought I would try another.

I am trying to find more information on the item pictured below. As you can see, it is a small round approximately 52mm in diameter and reads Scouter Basic Training.

Scouter Basic Training Round

Does anyone know when it was issued, by whom, and an approximate value?
