Turquiose Sanita Hills Neckerchief circa 1960

The Boys Scouts of Greater New York Councils took over Sanita Hills Camp, a 1100-acre resort for employees of the New York City Department of Sanitation in May 1956. The camp was used for many years including a stint as a separate summer camp during the late 1960′s and early 1970′s.  It was later sold in the mid – late 1980′s.

This is one of several undated neckerchiefs issued by GNYC.  This one is on a turquoise cloth with black lettering.

I believe that this neckerchief is from circa 1960, can anyone provide a more exact date?

  1. How can I find out more about the Sanita Hills camp when Dept. of Sanitation owned it..

I was there as a child in 1949.

    Thank you,
    Kay
